FLYING LEAP STUDIOS: Who is Flying Leap?
Flying Leap Studios was formed in 2007 by games industry veteran Larry Ahern as an independent company for his various consulting and freelance project work. Since then, the company has expanded to also offer design and production services for clients and publishing partners on a larger scale, expanding or contracting our staff based on the needs of each project.
Larry Ahern has nearly 20 years creative leadership experience in the interactive entertainment business, including a 10 year stint at LucasArts Entertainment Company designing some of the industry's most critically acclaimed adventure games. Best known for his work as designer and art director on The Curse of Monkey Island, Larry served in a variety of roles while at LucasArts from project leader, game designer, and writer to art director, animation director, and concept artist.
Around the time of the Xbox launch, Larry left LucasArts for Microsoft, where he spent 5 1/2 years. During his tenure there, he worked on several PC and Xbox action and simulation titles, as well as an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) with the groundbreaking team behind the Halo 2 ilovebees campaign.
Then in early 2007, Larry left Microsoft to co-found the independent development studio Crackpot Entertainment, where he served as creative director on the original PC and DS title Insecticide. His most recent project, and Flying Leap Studios' first contract, is an innovative interactive theme park attraction for Walt Disney Imagineering at EPCOT called the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure. A bit of a departure from the usual videogame, this attraction is designed for folks who feel like getting up out of their chairs and walking around a little while playing games.
